December 15, 2008 Japan Foreign Trade Council, Inc. sponsors of the "JFTC Essay Competition 2008" are very pleased to announce that we received a total of 151 submissions from 35 different nationalities for the competition this year. After a strict screening of all the essays, the four submissions below have been selected as the Prize Excellence of the competition in 2008. Unfortunately, however, there was not one that the Selection Committee members should strongly back for the Grand Prize of 1 million yen. But this year, we have decided to award a Selection Committee Chair's Special Prize to an outstanding essay by the writer in his or her teens. We would like to express our congratulations to the winners and thank all the participants for taking part.
